"EA Active 2' for PlayStation 3 relies on leg and arm sensors to detect movement.

"EA Active 2" is an interactive workout game for the Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and PlayStation that makes use of motion sensors to determine if users of the game are doing exercises correctly or even doing the exercises at all. If your copy of Active 2 for PlayStation 3 is not accurately capturing your movement, there may be several potential causes for why this is happening. By going through the troubleshooting process, you can fix a motion-capture issue.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the leg and arm sensors if they are not already on. This can be done by pressing the “Power” button on each. The lights will be on when the sensor is on.

    • 2

Try new batteries in your arm motion sensor. Batteries that are almost dead can cause the upper body movement to not be picked up. Replace the batteries with a fresh, unused pair and attempt the workout again.

    • 3

Try new batteries in your leg sensor. Batteries that are almost dead can cause the lower body movement to not be picked up. Replace the batteries in this sensor with a fresh, unused pair and attempt the workout again.

    • 4

Make sure that your arm motion sensor is placed correctly on your right forearm. Failure to correctly put on the arm motion sensor may cause the PlayStation 3 to not capture upper body movement. The correct placement of the arm motion sensor is on your right forearm with the arm logo facing outward and the lights of the sensor facing down.

Make sure that your leg motion sensor is placed correctly on your right leg. Not having the leg sensor on correctly can cause the PlayStation 3 to not capture lower body movement. The correct placement of the leg motion sensor is on your right upper thigh with the sensor facing in front of you, the leg image facing the floor and the lights facing up toward the ceiling.

    • 6

Sync your leg and arm motion sensors with the PS3 again. If the sensors are not synchronized properly to the PS3, this can cause motion to not be captured. You can resync by unplugging and plugging back in the Active 2 USB adapter and then holding down the sync buttons on the sensors. Wait for the lights to stop blinking and then release the buttons.

Replace the leg and arm sensors. If none of the previous steps work, one or possibly both of your sensors may be broken. Contact EA by going to EA.com and request new leg and arm sensors.
