Dying your hair can be hit or miss sometimes. Sometimes your hair will turn out too dark, too light or too bright. To tone down the color you do not need to enlist the help of a professional stylist. Rummage through your kitchen for some vinegar; a vinegar-based wash will tone down the color of your hair, while not stripping your hair like chemical toners can. Does this Spark an idea?

  • 3 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 6 cups water
  • Funnel
  • Gallon pitcher or jug

      Pour 6 cups water into a gallon-sized pitcher or jug.

      Pour 3 tablespoons white vinegar into the pitcher or jug.

      Mix the water and vinegar together with a spoon or place a lid on the pitcher or jug and shake it.

      Rinse your hair thoroughly with the vinegar mixture. Leave it in your hair for five to 10 minutes, then rinse your hair with water quickly. Your hair will still smell like vinegar while wet, but once your hair dries the smell will dissipate.

      Repeat the rinse after 24 hours if your hair color is still not to your liking. Repeating sooner will dry out your hair.
