Instructions

    • 1

Place a green, orange, red or yellow tablecloth on the table. If covering a long table, such as a series of picnic tables lined together, use a combination of cloths in these colors. Use disposable cups, plates and utensils of the same colors.

    • 2

Twist green, orange, red and yellow streamers over the table, if you are indoors and you have access to light fixtures or other high objects from which to stream these decorations. For outdoor tables, inflate balloons of these colors and tie a balloon to the back of each chair.

    • 3

Place miniature tin garbage cans on the table as centerpieces. Fill these cans with candy or party favors, if desired. Arrange a big tin garbage can on the ground on side of the time. This can serves a practical and decorative purpose, as you can use it to clear the table.

    • 4

Place two cookies resembling Big Bird’s googly eyes on each plate. Frost two sugar cookies with white icing. On each cookie, draw an iris with black tube frosting.

    • 5

Place a Sesame Street themed party favor at each place setting. For instance, make finger puppets based on characters from the show. Cut off the fingers of a red, green, yellow or orange knit glove. Color a picture of a character’s head, cut the picture out and hot glue to the tip of a finger.

    • 6

Draw Big Bird footprints on the sidewalk leading up to the table, if desired. Trace a large boot with yellow chalk. Fill in the outline with yellow chalk. For an indoor party, make the footprints from yellow construction paper.
