How to Make a Wrist Cuff With Lace
Wrist cuffs are a great accessory for your favorite outfit as an alternative to bracelets. They can match the colors in the outfit or provide a pop of color to show your personality. There are a lot of options in mass marketed wrist cuffs but it can be hard to find the perfect cuff for your outfit. With fabric, lace and a couple of buttons, you can make a wrist cuff with lace to create an accessory that perfectly fits your wrist, style and outfit. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Fabric
- Measuring tape
- Fabric pencil
- Scissors
- Thread
- Sewing machine
- Straight pins
- Lace, 3/4-inch wide
- 2 large buttons
- Sewing needle

Measure a 10-by-3-inch strip on your fabric. Add 1/2 an inch all the way around and mark the fabric with your fabric pencil. Cut out the fabric strip. This will be the backing of your wrist cuff.

Fold over a 1/4-inch of fabric on all four sides of your cuff backing. Fold over another 1/4 inch and pin the fold in place. Sew the folds to hem your cuff backing, removing the pins as you go.

Cut your lace to a 10-inch strip. Center the lace on your cuff backing and pin it in place. Sew the lace to the cuff backing, removing the pins as you go.

Cut and sew button holes on ne end of your cuff. The lace should be centered between the button holes.

Loop the cuff around your wrist. Mark the fabric through the button holes to indicate where your buttons should go.

Sew the buttons on your cuff where your marks are to complete your wrist cuff.

Tips & Warnings
Use a contrasting thread color to sew the lace to add extra color to your wrist cuff.
Use a thicker backing fabric for a stiffer cuff.
