Instructions

    • 1

Cut a piece of the thicker ribbon, approximately 1 foot long. This will be your base ribbon.

    • 2

Glue the end of one of the thinner strands of ribbon to the end of the other thin strand of ribbon to make one long strand. Wait approximately 5 minutes for the glue to dry fully before proceeding to the next step.

    • 3

Tape the base ribbon to a flat, hard surface such as a counter or table. Make sure to leave approximately 1 inch of ribbon above the tape.

    • 4

Center the long ribbon underneath the base ribbon so that the seam where the two ribbons are glued together is hidden underneath. Make sure the thin ribbon is resting just below where the base ribbon is taped to the table. The part of the thin ribbon on the left-hand side of the base ribbon will be strand "A" and the right-hand strand will be "B."

    • 5

Cross strand "A" over the base ribbon and underneath strand "B." Pull Strand "A" back to the left side to create a loop.

    • 6

Bring strand "B" underneath the base ribbon and thread it through the loop of strand "A." Pull both strands of ribbon to create a knot around the base ribbon. This type of knot is known as a cobra stitch.

    • 7

Repeat steps 5 and 6, alternating which ribbon you start with, until you have braided the full length of the base ribbon.

    • 8

Double knot the two loose strands of ribbon at the end of the braid to secure it and then remove the tape. Tie a knot with the loose ribbon at the top of the bracelet, right above where the braid starts.

    • 9

Secure the finished bracelet around your wrist by tying both ends together in a bow.

Tips & Warnings

  • After every few knots, string a bead onto either strand "A" or "B" to make the bracelet a little more fun and unusual.
