In the “Pokemon” video games, Incenses assist in the breeding process. For example, if you equip a female Sudowoodo with the Rock Incense item while breeding it at a Pokemon Day Care, it will produce a Bonsly egg rather than a Sudowoodo egg. Outside of breeding, the Rock Incense can also add power to Rock-type attacks. In “Pokemon HeartGold,” this item is hidden in the Diglett Cave.

Travel to Vermilion City in the Kanto region. You can access this location after you complete the Johto Pokemon League.

Walk west to find the Diglett Cave on the outskirts of town.

Enter the cave. If a sleeping Snorlax is blocking the entrance, access the PokeFlute Channel on your PokeGear’s radio. The music will awaken the beast.

Walk through the cave until you see a raised ledge with an item. The cave is home to wild Diglett and Dugtrio, ranging between levels 13 and 29. You can choose to capture these Pokemon for your collection or defeat them for experience points.

Use the Rock Climb ability to climb up the ledge and collect the Rock Incense.

Tips & Warnings
To obtain the Rock Climb ability, defeat Gary, the Viridian City Gym Leader, for the Earth Badge. Afterward, you can talk to Professor Oak in Pallet Town to receive HM08, an item that allows you to teach your Pokemon the Rock Climb ability.
