How to Reset a Shift Inhibited

All automobiles posses a device known as a shifter, which allows users to select the operating mode for their vehicle. With the shifter, drivers can choose for their car to park, drive, move in reverse or operate in a selected gear. If you receive the message that your shifter is inhibited, you will have to reset it.

      Turn your vehicle on and wait for the "Shift Inhibited" message to appear.

      Shift to your vehicles neutral (or "N") setting with your shifter. This will reset the shifter.

      Select your desired gear and begin driving your vehicle.
