How to Make Polymer Clay Stick Pins
Polymer clay is a craft clay that can be used to create baked ceramic objects. In the past, if you want to make ceramics, you had to have your own kiln. The invention of polymer changed all this, since it can be baked in a conventional home oven. Children and adults can use polymer clay to create a wide array of items, from Christmas tree ornaments to animal figurines. One project adults might enjoy is creating their own stickpin designs, also known as tie pins.
Things You'll Need
- Polymer clay
- Roller
- Craft knife
- Shape mold
- Metal stick pin blanks with metal mounts
- Oven
- Pan
- Paint
- Brushes

Preheat the oven to the temperature recommended by the manufacturer on the package.

Knead the clay you are using to make it supple. Use a roller to flatten the clay to the thickness your want for the stick pin ornament.

Use a knife to cut out the shape for the ornament. Press this shape into your mold to create the impression.

Insert the mounting end of the stick pin into the clay shape, being careful not to damage the impression.
