Advertising signs can be effective if placed properly.

There are many reasons why you might want to hang a large advertising sign in you front yard, from announcing a yard sale or estate sale to alerting passersby that your house is for sale. To be effective for whatever your purpose is, these banner signs should be hung correctly. There are a number of factors to consider when you do this. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Examine your house from the street, or streets if you're at an intersection. Try to find a placement for a banner ad in your yard providing the best view for those riding or walking by. Take lighting into account, since something easily visible in the morning might disappear in the shadows by afternoon.

    • 2

Ensure that the location you choose has something from which you can hang the advertising banner. This could be the front edge of your porch roof if you are close to the road (and have a porch). Hang it from one or more trees in the front yard. If there isn't anything from which to hang the banner, purchase telescoping rods to insert in the ground.

Secure the bottom of the banner to the ground by ropes tied to stakes you've driven in the ground. If you live in a windy location, you may need two or more ropes attached to each eyelet in the banner.
