How to Make a Large Fake Rose
Roses are a universal symbol of sentimental emotion: red roses for romance, white roses for mourning, and any other color of rose for celebration. To surprise your guests, try your hand at crafting large fake roses for your next event. Not only will they be delighted with the whimsy of large, handmade roses, they will have a keepsake to take home with them. Keep your handmade roses as elegant as the real thing by using crepe paper to create them.
Instructions
-
-
1
Choose crepe paper in a color to match your event.
-
2
Cut teardrop-shape pieces of crepe paper.
-
-
3
Cut a tiny V shape into the outside edge of the petals.
-
4
Start to layer petals around a piece of floral wire. Each petal should overlap the one before it by about 1/4 inch. Pinch the petals at their base around the wire each time a new one is added.
-
5
Make a large rose by adding enough petals to make at least five layers around the center wire.
-
6
Secure the rose petals to the wire with a strip of green floral tape.
-
7
Continue to wrap the green floral tape around the base of the wire to create the look of a flower's stem.
