How to Remove the Rear Door Panel on a 2001 Suburban
The 2001 Suburban's rear door panel is attached to the door skin in the same way the front door panel is, making the process of removing the rear door panel very similar to the process of removing the front door panel. Common reasons you'd want to remove the panel include accessing the rear door speakers and window track. Once you are finished, you can easily re-install the door panel.

Removing the Suburban's Door Panel

Open the rear door on the side of the Suburban you want to remove the panel from.

Remove the Phillips screw from beneath the armrest, then remove the screw from the front-bottom corner of the door panel.

Pry around the edge of the interior door handle panel with the trim tool. Slide the panel away from the door handle to remove it.

Pry around the front edge of the window switch cover to pop it out. Lift the switch cover upward and unplug it to remove it.

Push the door lock switch to the "Unlocked" position. Insert your trim tool into the rear corner of the switch panel. Pry gently to remove the switch.

Pry along the rear corner of the light lens to pop it out. Unplug it and set it aside.

Push the door panel upward, then pull it away from the door to remove it. Peel back the plastic cover on the door skin to access the internal components.
Replacing the Door Panel

Place the Suburban's door panel against the door skin, with the top edge of the panel overlapping the door skin by about six inches. Push the door panel downward firmly to attach the panel's hook clips to the door skin.

Plug the light lens connection into the light lens, and then push the light lens into its mount on the rear part of the door panel.

Push the door lock switch into its mount, lining up the door lock rod with the center hole on the back of the lock switch. Push it firmly to snap it into the panel.

Replace the two door panel screws: One goes in the lower-front corner and the other goes below the armrest.

Slide the interior door handle cover over the door handle and push it firmly to attach it to the door panel.

Plug the window switch wire into the window switch panel, then push the window switch panel into its mount to attach it. The rear door panel is now reattached.
