Instructions

    • 1

Fill a balloon with helium. Try to use balloons that are the same color as your favorite kind of ice cream. For mint chocolate chip ice cream, for example, make dots on a green balloon with a permanent marker.

    • 2

Roll a brown piece of paper into a cone and secure with tape, leaving a hole at the point big enough for a string to pass through.

    • 3

Tie one end of a length of string to the knot in the balloon, then feed the string through the cone. Start feeding the string through at the large end of the cone and bring it out through the point. Pull the string through the cone so that the balloon sits directly on top of the open end. You now have one mini ice cream cone, the basis of your centerpiece.

    • 4

Repeat Steps 1 through 3 as often as necessary to make as large of a centerpiece as you desire. Use varying lengths of string and different colors of balloons for depth and variety.

    • 5

Loosely knot all the strings together and anchor to something heavy, such as a shoe box filled with bean bags and wrapped in colorful wrapping paper. Place your new centerpiece on your table and enjoy. When guests depart, give each guest one mini balloon ice cream cone to take home as a party favor.
