How to Get an iPod Touch into DFU Mode While Booting Up
Device Firmware Update (DFU) mode is accessible on your iPod Touch and forces it to return to its original firmware version. It's a tool you should use only if you have problems and are unable to either downgrade or upgrade your firmware version. The process requires careful timing. If your timing is off, you will put your iPod Touch in recovery mode and will need to repeat the process to access DFU mode.

Let go of the "Home" button as soon as the device is detected, or you'll go into recovery mode.
-
6
Click "Restore" when iTunes recognizes that the device firmware must be restored. It can take some time for the firmware to download and install, so be patient.
