How to Get Music to Play Automatically on Tumblr Using YouTube
If you run a Tumblr blog, you may want music to play automatically when a user visits your site, like Myspace used to do. Unlike Myspace, Tumblr does not have a built-in music player. One way around this is to use YouTube videos. Embedding YouTube videos is easy; getting them to play automatically is trickier. YouTube does not make it obvious how to do the process known as “autoplay,” but a simple code snippet makes it possible.

Open the YouTube video you want to use on your Tumblr.

Click “Share,” and then “Embed.”

Click “Use old embed code.” The newer system makes autoplay more difficult.

Copy and paste the embed code in the box above into your Tumblr blog where you want the video to appear.

Change “height=XXX” to “height=25” (optional). If you only want the music to play, without the video, this minimizes the video screen so all you have is the thin player. Otherwise, skip this step.

Add “&autoplay=1” after the video URL in the embed code. You will need to do this twice. It will look something like this: “http://www.youtube.com/v/_XI3atsTIuk&autoplay=1”

Publish the Tumblr page. Now when visitors open it, it will start automatically.
