Instructions

    • 1

Wrap the measuring tape around your neck and pinch the tape where it loops and meets itself. Record the measurement. Add half an inch to that measurement. This will be the length of your necklace. For example, if your neck is 7 inches around, your necklace will be 7 1/2 inches.

    • 2

Cut out a colorful piece of satin or velvet to the length from step one. This will serve as the backing of your necklace. Cut it as wide as you want the necklace to be. For example, the backing will be 3 by 7 1/2 inches.

    • 3

Cut out a piece of black lace that is the same length as your backing but an inch wider. In the example, the lace should be 4 by 7 1/2 inches. Lay the backing on a flat surface and place the lace over it so the backing is centered. Pin the lace in place.

    • 4

Flip the lace and backing over. Fold the extra top half-inch of lace over and secure it to the backing by either applying fabric glue or stitching it into place. Do the same for the extra bottom half-inch of lace and remove the pins.

    • 5

Attach three hooks to one end of the necklace and three eyes to the other end, making sure each hook lines up to an eye. This is how you will fasten the necklace closed. Decorate the neckalce however you desire. Add ribbon, gems or other decorations.
