How to Replace a Dyson Animal Soleplate
Similar to a shoe, your Dyson Animal vacuum contains a protective “sole” on its underside. This soleplate partly conceals a brushroll, which gathers particles of dirt from your carpet for collection in the removable bin. Accessing the brushroll or other parts beneath the cleaner head require removal of the soleplate. Removing and installing the soleplate correctly prevents any likelihood of cracking this delicate part. Does this Spark an idea?

Removal
-
1
Detach the dirt bin from your Dyson Animal to allow the machine to lie flat. Gently lay your Animal vacuum facedown.
-
2
Locate the three fasteners along the edges of the soleplate. Like screws, these fasteners have a notch on the head that allows for the use of a tool.
-
-
3
Rotate each fastener one-quarter turn to the left. Use either a flat-bladed screwdriver with a wide head or a coin.
-
4
Lift both sides of the soleplate away from the underside of your Dyson Animal. Use care when detaching the soleplate to prevent damaging it.
Installation
-
5
Align the three soleplate fasteners with the three tabs on the underside of your Dyson Animal.
-
6
Press the soleplate in place against the tabs. Check all around the soleplate to see that it's fitted correctly. Performance of the cleaner head relies partly on the proper alignment and attachment of the soleplate.
-
7
Rotate each faster one-quarter turn to the right. Again choose either a flat-bladed screwdriver or coin for this operation.

Tips & Warnings
With the soleplate removed, examine the condition of the brushroll. Floss, yarn and other bits of string often become entangled around the brush roll. Use scissors to cut these items free before replacing the soleplate.
Before beginning any maintenance on your vacuum, always first unplug it.
