Web servers keep the Internet going.

An Apache Web server controls static intranet or dynamic Internet Web pages so people can find them when they search for websites online. If you make changes to the Apache Web server, you must restart the server so it does not reinstall the old settings. When you reset the server, you will upload the new settings and complete the changes that you made to the server settings.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to your Apache server via your computer and make your desired changes to the server.

    • 2

Type “/etc/init.d/apache2 start|stop|reload|restart|configtest” into the command box, without the quotation marks.

    • 3

Press the “Return” or “Enter” key on your keyboard to start the command sequence. This command string will not only reset the router and upload the changes, it will complete a configuration test before the server restarts to ensure the changes you made will work with your system. If it fails, you will receive a message regarding the configuration errors. Make the necessary changes and type in the string of code again.
