How Do I Save on "Zelda: Ocarina of Time"?

In "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time," you take control of the hero, Link. Link must travel across the land of Hyrule to stop the evil Gannondorf's plans. The game spans multiple dungeons which may take many hours to complete. Because of the game's length, a save option is available. Saving the game records your progress up to the point of the save and allows you to resume where you left off. You may save at any time by accessing the game's menu screen.

      Press the "Start" button to open the menu screen.

      Press the "B" button to save. A message will pop-up asking if you wish to save.

      Select "Yes."

      Wait for the save to complete. A confirmation will display notifying you the game was successfully saved. Press the "B" button to return to the game.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you save in a dungeon and exit the game, Link will appear at the entrance of the dungeon when the game is loaded.

  • If you save on a field map and exit the game, Link will appear in his house when the game is loaded.

  • Do not turn off your system while the game is saving. Doing so could cause the deletion of the save game data.

  • Your save file is selected when you start a new game. At this time, you pick a name for your save file. Every time you save the game, it is automatically saved to the file you selected.
