Add cheer to your Christmas tree with homemade angel paper clip ornaments.

Christmas decorations, like ornaments for the tree, set the tone for holiday cheer. Christmas ornaments add to the memories made throughout the holiday season. One way to boost holiday cheer and memories made is to spend time making your own tree ornaments. One ornament is made using items you probably already have around the house, such as ribbon and paper clips. Create the handmade ornaments as a project or to give away on gifts.

Instructions

    • 1

Using a ruler, measure 10 inches of ribbon. Cut the 10 inch length of ribbon.

    • 2

Fold the cut ribbon in half, creasing the ribbon in the middle fold.

    • 3

Push the creased fold through the hole in a bead.

    • 4

Pull the ribbon through the hole on the bead, leaving a small tail made of the two trailing ends of the ribbon.

    • 5

Hold the paper clip so that the flat end is towards the ground and the butterfly wings are pointing towards the ceiling. The paper clip should look similar to an angel body when held this way.

    • 6

Place the bead between the wings on the paper clip, pushing the tails of the ribbon through the triangle of the clip between the wings.

    • 7

Attach the tail of the ribbon to the rest of the ribbon by sewing it together with a needle and thread.

    • 8

Slide a disc bead over the ribbon to create a halo over the angel's head and finish the ornament.

Tips & Warnings

  • Add sparkle to the ornament by dipping the ornament in glue before sprinkling with glitter.
