How to Make a Frame in "Second Life"

Making a frame, also known as taking a frame shot, is addicting hobby amongst "Second Life" players. Capturing your favorite game moments in "Second Life" is straightforward. The game features a full flycam mode that allows players to position their line of sight in any way desirable to capture a frame according to exact specifications. Making a memorable frame requires a little finesse, a few keystrokes and a click of the mouse. Capture game images to share with other players and decorate your virtual home.

      Position your "Second Life" avatar as if posing for picture with his or her back to focal point in the scenery, be it a waterfall, sunset or piece of in-game architecture.

      Initiate flycam mode by pressing "Alt," "Shift," and "F" simultaneously on the keyboard.

      Move the flycam in position, think of it as a camera's view finder, using the arrow keys and mouse.

      Click on "Second Life Viewer," select "Advanced Mode" from the drop menu and click on the camera shaped icon to take a frame shot.

      Click the "Save" button in the frame shot preview window that pops up automatically after taking a shot. Designate the save location by clicking the "Browse" button and selecting the folder where you want to store the frame.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can by-pass the frame shot preview window by positioning the fly cam and pressing "Control," "+," and "'" keyboard keys simultaneously.
