How to Add Ruby Platform to NetBeans
The NetBeans integrated development environment was originally designed for Java development. In the years since its first iteration, developers have expanded the platform’s capabilities to include support for the C/C++, HTML, SQL, PHP and Ruby programming languages. Click “Tools” in NetBeans’ main menu bar.

Tips & Warnings
NetBeans automatically downloads and installs the Ruby plug-in. Click the “New Project” icon in the menu bar and select “Ruby” in the “Categories” pane of the “New File” window to start your Ruby project.
