How to Add Ruby Platform to NetBeans

The NetBeans integrated development environment was originally designed for Java development. In the years since its first iteration, developers have expanded the platform’s capabilities to include support for the C/C++, HTML, SQL, PHP and Ruby programming languages. NetBeans makes adding any of these a simple task with the use of plug-in modules.You can view an updated list of available plug-ins within the NetBeans IDE.       Click “Tools” in NetBeans’ main menu bar.

      Click “Plugins” in the drop-down menu.

      Click the “Available Plugins” tab.

      Click the box next to the “Ruby and Rails” entry.

      Click the “Install” button under the Catalog pane at the bottom of the Plugins window.

  • NetBeans automatically downloads and installs the Ruby plug-in. Click the “New Project” icon in the menu bar and select “Ruby” in the “Categories” pane of the “New File” window to start your Ruby project.
