How to Make a Kindle Format
The Kindle e-book reader device is compatible with several different types of digital documents. Amazon.com's preferred file type is the AWZ format, as copyright protection can be added to these files. Creating your own Kindle format prohibits the use of copyright-encryption systems unless you submit your e-book for sale on the Kindle Store. The AWZ file type is based on the MOBI format, however, which can be easily created using free online tools and which is fully compatible with the Kindle.
