“Game Dev Story” is a business simulator game available for iOS and Android. The game allows you to take control of a video game company to develop your own games and eventually a gaming console. Developing a gaming console takes time and money, and is only available in the later stages of the game. Before you can develop a console, you need to meet some requirements.

Level up a Hardware Engineer. Every employee has a job title that determines which task they perform within the company. Employees can level up with a job title to a maximum of level five. To hire a Hardware Engineer, level up an employee to level five in each available job title. This includes Coder, Writer, Designer, Sound Engineer, Director and Producer. Once done, Hardware Engineer becomes available under the “Career Change Manual” setting.

Move into the 3rd office. The 3rd and final office is the only office that allows you develop a console. This office becomes available around the 10-year mark in the game and costs $25,000.

Increase your popularity and wealth. The more popular your company is, the more successful your console. Also, the more money you have, the easier it is to develop a console. The only way to this is to play the game and develop successful games. Acquire at least $200,000 before developing a console.

Click on “Develop” and select “Console” when ready to make your own console. This option is not available until you hire a Hardware Engineer and move into the 3rd office space.
