How to Cook a Can of Beans Over a Campfire
Nothing beats a summer night spent outdoors by the glow of a campfire. Whether it's for a camping trip or a backyard gathering, campfires are harken back to simpler times and let friends and families enjoy one another's company and the beauty of the outdoors. Campfires also mean cooking traditional campfire foods, such as roasting hot dogs and marshmallows. Round out a meal of hot dogs by cooking up some canned beans over a campfire. Set up a cooking area over a fire that is no longer roaring but has burned down to a bed of smaller flames and coals. Balance a grilling grate on the outside of the fire pit, providing a spot to place the pans for cooking.

Pour the can of beans and into a dutch oven, sauce pan or other pot. Place the lid on the pan.

Position the bean-filled pan on the grill over the fire. From time to time, remove the lid and stir the beans to ensure they heat evenly.

Test the beans by eating a spoonful. When they have reached a suitable temperature, serve them.

Tips & Warnings
Do not cook a can of beans by heating the entire can directly. Cans are not designed to withstand such high temperatures, and chemicals from the sealants can leak into the beans.
Wear oven mitts when handling the pot, as it will be extremely hot.
Use caution when cooking on an open fire or hot coals to prevent injury and burns.
