How to Improve the Bandwidth on a Shared Drive

A shared drive contains storage files that all computers on the connected network can access. Data transmission can be slower because data has to be moved from one computer to another. This can be frustrating if you need to retrieve multiple items quickly. Your computer may also be searching for a remote drive to access the data. You can remove a registry key to help improve the bandwidth on your shared drive.

Instructions

1. Click the "Start" button and type "Run" in the search field. Type "Regedit" in the "Run" window and press "Enter." This will open the registry.

2. Navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Explorer/RemoteComputer/NameSpace" and click it to open it.

3. Right-click the "{D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF}" registry key and click "Export."

4. Right-click "{D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF}" and click "Delete." This will delete this key from the registry and stop Windows from scanning remote drives for scheduled tasks.

5. Restart your computer to improve the bandwidth on your shared drive.
