How to Make Embroidered Burp Cloths
Burp cloths don't stay clean for long, especially if a baby spits up food or formula when burping. Burp cloths are personal baby items that will be a memorable part of the baby's development stages. Take the time to make an embroidered burp cloth customized for your baby. An embroidered burp cloth adds a decorative touch to an ordinary burp cloth and can be designed in a color scheme matching the baby's nursery.

1
Select a pattern for the embroidery and upload it into the machine. Choose a baby-themed pattern, such as bottles, booties and blocks, or embroider the baby's name, initials or date of birth onto the burp cloth.
-
2
Choose a thread color. Use a variety of colors if you want to embroider the baby's name in different colored letters. You should embroider one color at a time for each embroidery.

3
Flip the burp cloth upside down, with the back of the cloth facing up. Lay the burp cloth on the embroidery machine. Look for two sizes of hoops, one large and one small. Set the burp cloth between the two hoops, on top of the large hoop and under the smaller hoop. Center the cloth so that the part of the cloth you want to embroider is facing up through the small hoop.

4
Press the presser foot down and begin sewing. The machine will create the pattern based on the pattern you selected and uploaded to the machine. Lift the presser foot back up when the embroidery pattern is finished. Continue moving across the burp cloth by releasing the cloth from the hoops and repositioning it for a new spot on the cloth.

Tips & Warnings
Always read the embroidery machine's instruction manual to ensure that you use the machine correctly.
Use special embroidery thread instead of regular sewing thread. It is thicker and intended for embroidering.
