How to Make Melted Crayons Into Valentine Hearts
Once crayons are used for a while, they often become dull and short, making it hard to use them effectively. Some people throw these crayons out at this point and begin to use new ones instead. However, used crayons can be melted and repurposed into new crayons. The new crayons can be made into a variety of shapes and colors, including making hearts for Valentine's Day. Melted heart crayons make ideal gifts for Valentine's Day party favors or to give to classmates as a special Valentine.

1
Layer the cookie sheet with tin foil to prevent the crayons from sticking. Position the heart-shaped cookie cutters onto the cookie sheet. If you use a muffin tin, place the tin on top of the cookie sheet to catch any wax that drips down. Spray the insides of the muffin tin with vegetable oil.

2
Peel the paper off the crayons to prepare them for melting.

3
Break up the crayons into small pieces and arrange them inside the heart-shaped cookie cutters or muffin tin holes. Cover the entire bottom with crayon pieces two or three layers thick depending on your preferences. It is OK if there are gaps between crayon pieces. They will fill in as the crayons melt.
-
4
Preheat your oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit. Crayons melt quickly and do not require higher temperatures.
-
5
Place the cookie sheet into the oven after it preheats for about seven to 15 minutes. The length of time varies depending on the size of the hearts and how thick the crayon layers are.
-
6
Remove the cookie sheet from the oven as soon as the crayons are melted. Place it in a cool spot to allow the crayons to harden.
-
7
Remove the cookie cutters or dump the muffin tin upside down to remove the crayons. If you need to make more, repeat the process.
