How to Make an Oblong Table Centerpiece From Christmas Tree Cuttings
Christmas centerpieces can be either fun or formal, depending on the situation. Use cuttings from your live Christmas tree to decorate the middle of your table. Doing this can make for an inexpensive centerpiece that smells and looks like Christmas. By forming a centerpiece from Christmas tree cuttings, you can change it up for different events and occasions. An oblong centerpiece nicely fits a long dining room table or serving sideboard. - Christmas tree cuttings
- Candles
- Artificial berry picks
- Pine cones
- Christmas lights
- Ribbon

Lay the cuttings on the table, side board or other surface. Arrange them so not too many branches show through the greenery. Cover the middle of the table, being sure to leave enough room for dishes or serving platters.

Nest candles in among the cuttings and branches. For safety, be sure the flame is not near the greenery. Tall tapers or short votive candles in glass holders can be used.

Tuck picks of artificial berries into the greenery. The pops of color can really lend a seasonal look to the centerpiece. Add pine cones to boost the natural look of the display.

Wind a strand of Christmas twinkle lights under and around the cuttings. A small battery powered strand works best, as you don't want a cord snaking under the table to an electrical outlet. White twinkle lights are very cool and sophisticated looking, while colorful lights look great for a family party.

Tie ribbons around the cuttings at different intervals. Form a bow with the ribbons. You can cut the tails very short, or allow them to drape and trail along the greenery.
