Using alt codes, you can make either a single or double eighth note.

Facebook allows you to include symbols and characters when updating your status or commenting on a friend’s post. If your statement is related to music, it’s a nice touch to add the music symbol. You can add symbols by pressing the "Alt" key and a specific code. Use code 13 for the single eighth note and code 14 for the double eighth note.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to your Facebook account.

    • 2

Place your cursor in the “Status” or “Comment” box where you want to place the music note.

    • 3

Hold down the “Alt” key. At the same time, press the number “1” and release it; then press “3” or “4” and release it.

    • 4

Release the “Alt” key and the music note symbol will appear.

Tips & Warnings

  • For some computers, you may need to use the numbers on your number pad rather than the numbers across the top of your keyboard. If you do, make sure number lock is on by pushing the “Num Lock” button.

  • If you have a laptop without a numeric keypad, check to see if there are little numbers under the letters on your keyboard. If so, hold "Alt" and the function (FN) key, then press the appropriate letter that corresponds to 3 or 4. If you don't have these numbers under the letters, open a document in Word or OpenOffice Writer and choose "Insert" and "Symbols" or "Special Characters" to add one or both of the music notes (U+266A or U+266B) to the document, and then copy and paste the notes to Facebook.
