Use your oven to dry tea-dyed paper.

When a craft project requires paper to have a weathered, vintage appearance, one way to achieve this is by dyeing the paper with tea. This process requires the paper to become wet so that the tea can soak in to give the page a yellowed look. If you’d rather not wait for the wet page to air dry after the dyeing is complete, the paper can be dried in your oven within a matter of minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.

    • 2

Lay the dyed sheet of paper flat on a cookie sheet. Once the oven has heated up, slide the cookie sheet into the oven.

    • 3

Watch the paper closely while it is in the oven. After approximately 5 minutes, you will notice the edges of the page beginning to curl, indicating that the paper is dry. Remove the cookie sheet from the oven.

    • 4

Allow the paper to cool, then remove it from the cookie sheet.
