Antiquing a Metal Lamp

Things You'll Need
- Lacquer remover
- Solvent brush
- Clean rags
- Drop cloth
- Bleach
- White vinegar
- Bowl
- Spray bottle
- Steel wool
- Safety goggles
- Latex gloves

Unplug the lamp from its power source. Remove the lampshade and light bulb. Set the lamp base on a drop cloth in a well-ventilated area.

Apply the lacquer remover to the lamp base with a solvent brush. Use clean rags to scrub the lamp base until the lacquer is removed.

Combine 2 parts bleach with 1 part vinegar in a bowl. Amounts vary, depending on the lamp size and number of lamps you are antiquing. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle.

Spray the bleach-vinegar solution on the entire surface of the metal lamp base. Allow the solution to set for 30 minutes. Repeat the process until desired results are achieved.

Allow the solution to dry completely. Rub the surface of the lamp with steel wool to finish the antique look.
