String bracelets are often referred to as friendship bracelets. These bracelets, made of colorful embroidery floss thread, are frequently made and given as a token of friendship. Friendship bracelets can be a thoughtful way to remind someone special in your life of their significance to you. This two string bracelet is a beginner friendship bracelet design. This pattern is a good starting point for those unfamiliar with following bracelet patterns. After working the two string bracelet, continue adding strings to make increasingly complex and elaborate bracelets.

Things You'll Need

  • 2 different colors of embroidery thread
  • Measuring tape
  • Masking tape
  • Scissors

Instructions

      Cut two strands of thread, in each color, approximately 1 1/2 feet long.

      Tie a knot at one end, leaving several inches of tail.

      Tape the yarn tail to a hard surface, such as a desk or table, using masking tape.

      Loop the left thread under and around to the right of the right thread. Bring it back over the right thread and pass it through the loop you created. Pull the thread tight, making a knot. Continue this step as many times as you desire. Repeat the same method, reversing the strings to switch to your other color.

      Continue knotting until your bracelet is the desired length. Tie the end in a knot. Tie both ends of your bracelet together. Cut off any excess thread.
