How to Flash an Android on to a Nook Color
Barnes & Noble's Nook Color e-reader runs on the Android operating system, but you don't get access to most Android features due to the device's system setup. However, you can root your Nook Color and flash a full version of Android on the e-reader. Your device then functions as a touchscreen Android-based tablet, with full access to the Android Market, Google applications and Android operating system features.

1
Open your computer's Web browser and go to xdadevelopers.com. Type "auto nooter" in the search box and press "Enter."
-
2
Click "Auto-Nooter for Nook Color." Click the "forum thread" link in the Auto-Nooter description. Click "auto-nooter-2-12-25.img.zip" to download the zip file. Extract this file when the download completes.

3
Put the Nook's microSD card in your computer. Use an external SD card reader or your cellphone if you do not already have a card reader on your computer. Open the image writing software you're using for this process -- use anything that transfers a disc image intact to an SD card. The Auto-Nooter developer uses WinImage and Win32 Image Writer for this process.
-
4
Select the Auto-Nooter image file in the image writing software. Set your microSD card as the image's destination drive. Click "Write" or "OK," depending on your software, to place this disc image on your microSD card. Remove the card from your computer after the image has been written.
-
5
Put the microSD card back in your Nook Color. Power on your Nook Color and let it enter idle mode. Auto-Nooter runs as soon as your Nook goes idle, and replaces the Barnes & Noble overlay with a fully accessible and usable Android operating system.

Perform a firmware update on your Nook Color prior to using Auto-Nooter, as the application fails on firmware versions prior to 1.0.1.
Leave your Nook Color plugged in to power while rooting the device, or fully charge it before beginning, to avoid any bricking problems.
