Instructions for a Friendship Loom and Bracelets

Instructions for a Friendship Loom and Bracelets thumbnail
Bracelets are given as a symbol of a friendship between two people.

Creating a friendship bracelet is a way to make an inexpensive, yet thoughtful gift for a friend. You can make a bracelet using a loom with small beads and threads. Weaving the threads together under the bead design creates a strong bracelet and the design can be of any bead configuration that you choose.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw your bracelet design on a sheet of graph paper so you can see where the bead colors will be positioned.

    • 2

Tie six sections of embroidery thread between the two anchor points on the center of the loom. Tie the knots by creating a loop in the group of threads and feeding the loose ends through the loops to create overhand knots. Roll the loom bars outwards to pull the threads tight.

    • 3

Attach beading thread to one side of the end of the tied threads. Feed the bead configuration for the first row onto the beading thread to the knot. Pass the end of the beading thread over the far side of the tied threads so the beads lay across the top.

    • 4

Weave the thread under and over the main tied thread to secure the beads in place. The beading thread will now be on the same side it started. Repeat the procedure with the bead configuration for the second row and so on, until you have the full bracelet design.

    • 5

Tie the beading thread in a knot around the finishing tied thread. Group the strands at the ends into groups of two. Braid the strands together, by crossing the three strands back-and-forth over each other to create ends that can be tied together.
