How to Design a Collage With Picasa
Picasa is a photo editing and storing program that is free to use and allows you many different photo editing abilities including creating a digital collage. Design your collage using digital photographs you have stored on your computer to make a memorable keepsake you can email to your friends or print out for a scrapbook. Picasa is a user-friendly program with simple commands and an automatic photo importer that will add your photos to the program every time you open it.

Download Picasa by going to the Picasa homepage and clicking on "Download Picasa," then select "Run" when the dialog box appears. After the download is complete, install the program onto your computer and open the program. The Download command will tell you which version of Picasa you will be downloading, such as version "3.8" or the most current version.

Import photos to Picasa if you have not done so already. The first time you open Picasa and every time after that, the program will automatically import photos that are found on a variety of folders on your computer.

Select the photos you want to include in your collage by clicking on them one-by-one; you can select more than one at a time by holding down the "Ctrl" key as you click multiple photos. Click on the "Collage" button on the bottom of the screen once your photos have been selected.

Add more photos to the collage by clicking on the "Clips" tab and clicking "Get More." You will then have access to your photo library and be able to select more photos. When you are done, click "Back to Collage."

Choose your collage settings by clicking on the options to the right of the screen. You can change the format of the collage such as a picture pile or mosaic. You will also have the option to change the background color, add or remove borders, write captions and choose a page format for printing.

Click on "Create Collage" when you are satisfied with the settings and photos chosen. Your collage will now be saved and also be given more options, such as changing the contrast and tone of the collage as well as other graphical details. From this screen, you can go back and edit your collage or print it out.
