How to Get a High Fishing Level on "RuneScape"

Training your Fishing level in the online role-playing game "RuneScape" is essential to your character's survival. With each fish you catch, you improve your Fishing level and unlock higher-level fish, such as swordfish, salmon, tuna and others. Because eating fish heals your character, having it and other high-healing foods in your inventory is imperative to defeating high-level monsters. To obtain a high Fishing level and unlock high-level fish, you must catch several species of fish using a wide variety of fishing techniques.

Instructions

1. Catch 37 crayfish to increase your Fishing level to 5. Travel northwest of Lumbridge and fish in the pond using a crayfish cage. The pond is just west of the sheep farm.

2. Catch approximately 110 sardines and herring to increase your Fishing level to 20. After your Fishing ability increases to 10, your character begins catching herring automatically in addition to sardines. Travel to the fishing locations southwest of the Draynor Village bank and fish for sardines and herring in the river using a fishing rod and fishing bait.

3. Catch approximately 900 trout and salmon to increase your Fishing level to 45. After increasing your Fishing level to 30, your character begins catching salmon in addition to trout. Travel to the eastern side of Gunnarsgrun and fish in the river using a fly fishing rod and feathers. Gunnarsgrun is the only location that free players can catch trout and salmon.

4. Catch approximately 145,000 tuna and swordfish to increase your Fishing level to 99. After increasing your Fishing level to 50, your character begins catching swordfish in addition to tuna. Travel to Musa Point, which is on Karamja Island, and fish in the ocean using a harpoon. Musa Point is the only location that free players can catch tuna and swordfish.

Tips & Warnings

• Alternatively, after increasing your Fishing ability to level 40, you can catch lobsters using a lobster cage on Musa Point until you increase your Fishing ability to level 99. Because lobsters offer 90 experience points per catch,you must catch 144,414 lobsters to increase your Fishing ability to level 99.

• Swordfish gloves, a reward from the Fist of Guthix activity, double the experience that you earn catching swordfish. The gloves crumble after you catch 1,000 swordfish and cost 200 Fist of Guthix tokens.

• As your Fishing level increases, your character catches the higher-level fish automatically, increasing the amount of experience received per hour.
