Wear your bracelet at the beach.

Making a warp cord bracelet is a creative way to express your passion for fashion. Wrap cord bracelets are constructed with one long piece of leather cord. The cord is folded over itself where you then sew beads in between each piece of leather. Wrap cord bracelets are ideal for casual or semi-formal dress wear. Once your master the technique, make additional bracelets as gifts for family, friends and fellow fashion enthusiasts.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the size of your wrist. Add 3 inches to ensure the bracelet is snug but not too tight. Double the overall size to get the total length of leather cord to fit your wrist. For example, if the circumference of your wrist is 6 inches, add 3 inches, so the total length is now 9 inches. Double the 9-inch length and you need 18 inches for the total length required to make your bracelet.

    • 2

Cut a 2 mm leather cord with a pair of scissors to the 18-inch length. Fold the cord over itself. Pinch the looped end. Adjust your pinched fingers so the loop is 1 1/2-inches long.

    • 3

Insert a needle strung with a 4-foot long thread through both strips of leather at the base of the loop. Double knot the thread at this point.

    • 4

Fasten the looped end of the bracelet to one edge of a 6-by-18-inch piece of cardboard with a metal clip to free both of your hands. Fasten the free ends of the leather strips to the opposite end of the cardboard with a second metal clip. Place a 5 mm bead in between each leather strip. Push the bead snug against the base of the loop.

    • 5

Wrap the thread once around the right side leather strip. Insert the needle and thread through the bead. Wrap the thread once around the left side leather strip.

    • 6

Place an additional bead flush against the previous bead -- between the two leather cord strips. Insert the needle and thread back through the new bead. Repeat until all beads are in place and 1 1/2-inches of free leather cord strips remain.

    • 7

Slide the free ends of the leather strips through the prefabricated holes in a 1/2-inch bead disk or button. Knot the leather strip ends together. Cover the knot with a drop of permanent epoxy. The bracelet is now complete.
