How to Hook Up ASUS Cine5 to a TV

The ASUS Cine5 is small, compact speaker system that delivers robust surround sound from a single enclosure. Unlike other surround systems that include a separate subwoofer and satellite speakers, the Cine5 packs a sub, center, front and rear channels into a single box that fits almost anywhere. Designed for use with computer systems in areas where space is a premium, the Cine5 is also suitable for use with TVs that have smaller built-in speaker or amplification systems. Although you cannot directly wire the Cine5 system to a TV, you can use a specialty adapter to attain stereo sound on the Cine5 system through your television.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase a Logitech 5.1 game console adapter. As of September 2011, the Logitech adapter is the only one available that allows you to connect a 5.1 speaker system with three separate audio connectors -- also known as computer speaker systems -- to a game console or TV with standard RCA audio outputs. Logitech includes the adapter with some of their higher-end speakers systems and sell the adapter individually through retailers. The adapter is available from many local and online retailers, and usually sells for less than $15.

Connect the blue and orange 3.5mm connectors from the Cine5 speakers to the matching colored ports on the Logitech console adapter. Plug the blue plug from the speaker system into the black port on the adapter. Plug the Cine5 AC adapter into the rear of the speaker.

    • 3

Plug the red and white plugs from one end of the RCA audio cable into the matching colored female plugs on the Logitech adapter. Plug the other end of the cable into the RCA output ports on the TV labeled “Audio 1” or “Audio Out.”

    • 4

Power on the speakers and the TV. Use the remote control for the TV to use the external speakers for sound output if the TV does not play sound through the speakers automatically. On most TVs, you can access the speakers settings using the Audio Settings or Advanced Settings option on the on-screen menu.
