1
Create a stick out of 2-by-4 pieces of lumber that is equal to the width of the area you plan to install the swing set. Use deck screws to attach these pieces and use a level to ensure the entire stick is on the same level.
-
2
Make a border to enclose the play area using extra pieces of 2-by-4 lumber.
-
-
3
Dig the higher end of the space with a shovel so that the degree of unevenness is less than 2 inches from the lowest point to the highest point. If the incline is not steep, you do not have to excavate the area.
-
4
Pour enough sand to fill in the lower space of the swing set area so that it is even with the higher end. Continue to fill the space an additional 1 foot above the untouched soil.
-
5
Check to make sure the entire area is level with the use of the level stick you created. Add sand to the areas that require modification and proceed with the installation of the swing set.
