An imported Charvel guitar may end up in a shipping yard.

Charvel guitars gained popularity in the 1980s after famous rock stars like Eddie Van Halen, Richie Sambora and Vinnie Vincent began using them. The global reach of these musicians meant that fans from around the world wanted to play the same guitars. As a result, Charvels can now be found on any continent. To purchase a Charvel from a foreign country, you'll have to follow the appropriate importation laws.

Instructions

Contact the exporter and ensure that he has prepared the invoice properly. The exporter should print the type and model number of Charvel guitar on the invoice as well as your name, the value of the guitar and the country of origin. Ask the exporter to print the invoice number on the outside of the guitar package with black permanent marker.

Visit or contact the port of entry within 15 days of the guitar reaching the United States.

    • 3

Fill out the Entry Manifest or Application and Special Permit for Immediate Delivery, an Evidence of Right to Make Entry form and a commercial invoice within 15 days of the Charvel arriving. These forms will be supplied by the Port Authority director.

Pay the duty fee required to release the guitar from the Port Authority within 15 days of the Charvel arriving in the United States.
