A scrolling marquee is an attention grabbing MySpace feature.

If you need to jazz up your MySpace page to grab your audience's attention, there are a variety of HTML codes and built-in themes available to make your profile stand out. One such option is the ability to scroll text in a marquee at the top of your MySpace page. To create scrolling text you need to add in a line of HTML code in the appropriate section of your profile.

Instructions

    • 1

Navigate to the MySpace website and click the "Login" link at the top of the window. Type your email address and password in the text boxes and click the "Login" button. Click the "Profile" link at the window and to the left of the "My Stuff" link.

    • 2

Click the "Customize" button located to the left of your profile's name. Click the "Modules and Marquee" button that appears at the top of the screen.

    • 3

Click the "Marquee" button in the "Modules and Marquee" menu. Click the "Blank" entry in the list of Marquee options and click the blue "Publish" button at the lower-right corner of the window.

    • 4

Type the opening <marquee> and closing </marquee> tags inside the box labeled "HTML." Type the text that you want to scroll across the top of your MySpace page in between the two tags. For example, type "<marquee>This is my MySpace profile</marquee>."

    • 5

Click "Save Changes" to add the scrolling text to the top of your MySpace profile.

Tips & Warnings

  • The <marquee> tag accepts different parameters if you want to customize the scrolling text. For example, typing "<"marquee direction="right">" results in text that scrolls from left to right instead of from right to left. Typing "<marquee behavior="alternate">" results in text that scrolls to one side of the screen and then turns around and scrolls back to the opposite side.

  • Not all areas of your MySpace profile accept HTML code. For instance, the "About Me" or "Who I'd Like To Meet" areas can't have scrolling text by using the <marquee> tag.
