How to Sell Art Offline
Selling your art offline is a time consuming process that is fraught with rejection. However, don’t let that discourage you, as you can sell your art in many places. While galleries tend to be the desired location for an artist to sell her wares, branching out and looking into other venues will help you build your name and reputation, as well as make a profit.

1
Create portfolios of your artwork. Use high quality paper and ink when printing out pictures of your artwork for your portfolio. Clear pictures will give prospective buyers a better look at your work. Make several portfolios so you can leave them at galleries or with prospective buyers.
-
2
Visit art galleries or art dealers who specialize in your medium. Talk with the dealers about putting your work in their gallery or business. The dealer or gallery made display your work, giving you a portion of the sales price. Or they may purchase your artwork for a flat fee, selling it at their convenience.

3
Have your own art show. Invite other artists in your area, displaying your work alongside theirs. Place ads in the paper, hand out flyers and notify art galleries and known art lovers to advertise your show. You may find prospective buyers come to your show.
-
4
Enter into an art competition. Winning a competition will get your artwork noticed. Competition bragging rights will also come in handy when trying to sell your artwork to galleries and dealers.
-
5
Inquire with your local city's tourism board regarding upcoming art or craft shows. Purchase a booth and display your artwork. Be prepared to haggle over the price of your artwork.
-
6
Visit local stores or other small business that cater to your art medium. Inquire if they would be interested in displaying your artwork in their business. For example, a small, privately owned print shop may be interested in selling your framed photographs. Your local tourism department may be interested in purchasing photos or paintings you've made of the town.
