How to Flash a Clockwork Recovery Image on the HTC Desire
With the HTC Desire Android phone you can root the operating system to install applications such as the Clockwork Mod Recovery app, part of ROM Manager. After you install ROM Manager, you flash the Clockwork Mod Recovery image on to your HTC Desire. Once Clockwork Mod Recovery flashes, you can use this recovery manager to flash ROMs and use several other boot options.

Open the HTC Desire's "Applications" menu on the home panel. Tap "Market" to launch the Android Marketplace.

Use the on-screen keyboard to type "ROM Manager" into search. Tap "ROM Manager" when it appears in your Marketplace results.

Tap "Install" to begin the installation process. Tap "OK" to give the ROM Manager program the appropriate permissions to run. Tap "Allow" if your rooted operating system requests superuser access to install ROM Manager to the system.

Open ROM Manager after the installation finishes. Tap "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" to flash the latest ClockworkMod Recovery image to the HTC Desire. Once the flash process completes, you can use ClockworkMod Recovery as your recovery menu instead of the default Android recovery options.
