Set up a serve-yourself breakfast for house guests. Fold your prettiest napkins so that the embroidered design shows at the corner and tuck them into each guest's coffee mug.       Lay the napkin out flat with the decorated corner at the top on the side of the napkin that is touching the table.

      Fold the bottom corner up to the top corner.

      Measure the depth of the mug. Fold the bottom fold of the napkin up so that the distance between the new fold at the bottom and the top corner is 4 inches longer than the depth of the mug. You can estimate the depth and the distance, if you prefer.

      Fold the side corners of the napkin in to meet in the center, making a fold on each side of the napkin. Roll these folds in until they meet in the center.

      Slip the napkin into the mug so that it stands up on the bottom fold. The decoration on the corner of the napkin should be in front.

  • Fill your coffeepot with water and coffee the night before so early risers plug it in and have coffee without waking anyone else.
