Instructions

    • 1

Remove a knee sock from the packaging and open up the hole where you would insert your foot. Use extra-long knee socks if these are available. Otherwise, use the longest socks you can find.

    • 2

Insert the small end of a funnel into the top opening in the knee sock. Hold the funnel in the sock securely while you pour dried rice, corn or beans into the sock. Fill the sock until there is a 4-inch empty space at the top of the sock.

    • 3

Cut a piece of yarn that measures 8 inches long. Wrap the yarn around the sock just above the level of the filler. Pull the yarn tight and wrap it around the sock again to tightly close the top of the sock. Tie the yarn into a secure knot to keep the sock closed.

    • 4

Make a second draft stopper in the same way, using the other sock in the pair.

    • 5

Close your front door or any other door that has a draft problem. Lay the sock draft stoppers on the floor right up against the bottom of the door, one on each side. The pair will cover the width of a large door. Use only one stopper on a windowsill for narrower windows.

Tips & Warnings

  • Choose the color of the socks to coordinate or accent your room decor.
