How to Put a Hose on Your Sentria Vacuum Cleaner

Attaching your Sentria's hose allows you to clean surfaces above the floor throughout your home.

The Sentria Vacuum System is manufactured by Kirby. It is used as an upright to clean carpets, rugs and hard flooring, but converts to a handheld vacuum for stair and mattress cleaning. The Sentria's suction hose allows use of a variety of attachments designed to remove dust and dirt from surfaces throughout the home. These include a dusting brush, upholstery nozzle, crevice nozzle, wall and ceiling brush, and a cleaning head designed to fit under low furniture.

Instructions

1. Remove the Power Nozzle from your Sentria Vacuum System. Press the Toe Touch Control Bottom Pedal with your foot. This is situated on the rear of the nozzle on the left side as you stand behind the cleaner. When the nozzle is raised fully, disengage your Sentria's Tech Drive Power Assist by stepping on the gray side of the Tech Drive Pedal. This is on the left-hand side of the cleaner's base as you stand behind it. Switch your Sentria off, and disconnect it from the power supply.

2. Lift up the hood, which covers the Sentria's headlight. This is located on top of the cleaner's base, at the rear. Pull out the handle on the Belt Lifter at the front of the Power Nozzle, and turn it to the left until the red arrows match up. Unlock the Power Nozzle by turning the Accessory Lock all the way to the left, and lift the Power Nozzle clear of the Sentria. The Accessory Lock is located on top of the vacuum cleaner's base.

3. Place the hooks on the connector end of the Sentria's hose over the ends of the Attaching Bar at the front of the base. The Attaching Bar is located in the area revealed by the removal of the power nozzle. Push the hose opening against the Sentria. Turn the Accessory Lock to the right. The lock is just above the Attaching Bar. This will secure the hose in position.

4. Attach the tool you wish to use to the smaller end of the hose. The Sentria will function automatically at high speed when you are using the tools.

Tips & Warnings

• Once the Sentria hose is attached to the vacuum, use the extension wands to increase your reach. These allow you to remove dust from high corners without stretching, and from baseboards without leaning over.

• Always switch off your Sentria and disconnect it from the power supply before carrying out any maintenance work on it.
