How to Clean Dog Hair on a Microfiber Couch
Microfiber is an excellent fabric choice for a sofa. It resists stains and is usually inexpensive. If you own a dog and he sheds, you likely have to deal with pet hair frequently on your sofa since hair tends to cling to microfiber. Several methods effectively remove dog hair from microfiber surfaces, but since the hair clings to the fabric, it will not be as easy as it would be on another fabric. When you find the method that works best for the dog hair and sofa in your home, clean it frequently to prevent buildup, which can be more difficult to remove. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Remove dog hair with a lint roller, such as one that is used to remove lint from clothing. Simply hold the roller by the handle and roll it along your couch in back-and-forth motions. Peel off the top sticky roller sheet when it no longer picks up the hair and continue cleaning with the next sheet underneath.

2
Vacuum the hair off of the couch using the upholstery attachment. Ideally, a microfiber couch should be vacuumed -- or brushed -- once a week anyway to remove loose dirt before it grinds deep into the fabric.

Press down and roll a commercial fabric sweeper specially designed to remove pet hair. Make small, side-by-side strokes and it will lift away the pet hair and trap it inside the sweeper. Alternatively, push down and rub a sponge designed to lift pet hair along your sofa using long strokes. Remove the pet hair from the sponge with your hands when it gets full. Read the label of the chosen product carefully to be sure it is safe to use on microfiber.

Wear a rubber cleaning glove and rub it along the couch to pick up the dog hair. If it doesn't work, wet the finger tips with just a bit of water and rub it along the couch to pick up and remove dog hair.
