1
Tie paper streamers or thick ribbon around the door. Weave the material through the small crack in the door while it's open and tie it in a bow on the side that faces the street or path guests will take.
-
2
Tape a banner, sign or poster to the door. Use a banner that relays the theme of the party, such as images of your toddler's favorite characters saying "Happy Birthday" with your child's name. A teenager's banner might say "Happy Sweet Sixteen, Sammie." The message should be personal for the guest of honor and use the same theme and colors as the rest of the party decor.

Blow up balloons and stick them to the door. Tie helium-filled balloons to the doorknob or tape balloons to the outside of the door. Use colorful balloons in the party colors or create a shape with the balloons, such as the outline of a tiara for a princess party.

4
Make a themed mobile out of an old wire hanger and hang it from the top of the door so it hangs down in front of the door. Use varying heights and display images that coordinate with the birthday theme. For example, each hanging could picture a different dinosaur species for a dinosaur-themed party.
-
5
Create a life-sized cutout of the guest of honor or a character from the party theme. Add a text bubble above the character's head that says "Welcome to Ricky's Birthday Party" or another relevant greeting.
