Instructions

    • 1

Measure your foot using a foot-measuring device. Your foot may be smaller than the shoe you are wearing and can throw off your traction. If the shoes are more than a 1/2-size larger than your foot, get a larger size or buy new basketball shoes.

    • 2

Add a thin insole and tongue pad to your shoe if the shoes only extend 1/2-size larger than your foot. This will pad your shoe and help your feet grip the shoe better to give you better traction.

    • 3

Remove any debris and particles from underneath the shoe. Small pebbles and dirt can buildup in the treads of the shoe and cause you to loose traction. Dust the bottom of the shoes regularly to remove dust, which can also cause a loss of traction.

Use a traction pad during sports. Step on the traction pad occasionally during the game to remove the dust and debris from the bottom of your shoes. This helps your basketball sneakers keep traction throughout the game, preventing you from slipping on the court.
