1
Mark the point on the crystal at which you want a hole, using a permanent marker. Place the crystal in a small bowl of water deep enough to cover it. Set the bowl on a level surface.
-
2
Put on protective glasses and a face mask. Position your drill slightly above the mark you have made on the crystal. Drill through the crystal at the mark. Hold the crystal in place with your opposite hand.

Flip the stone over in the water. Drill through the hole you’ve created from the opposite side to ensure a uniform hole throughout the crystal. Rinse the crystal under running water. Pat it dry with a towel.

Open a metal jump ring, using a pair of flat-nose pliers. Pull the ends of the jump ring in opposite directions — so they are no longer in line with each other. Slide the ring through the hole in the crystal and the center link in the chain. Use pliers to close the jump ring in the same manner in which you opened it.

Tips & Warnings
Choose stones that will not break when drilled. Reject stones with internal or external cracking, regardless of the size.
Do not attempt to position the hole too close to the edge.
